Restaurant review: Salazón, Seminyak, Bali: a place for real foodies!

Salazón (Salted in Spanish) is located in En Vie Lane, a thriving area in Seminyak. The first things you’ll notice upon your arrival are the enormity of their beautiful open kitchen, and the divine aroma of the 5.8 ton Scotch oven, a wood-fired oven that burns 24-hours a day.


Salazón’s style

Salazön’s expansive floor is beautifully designed, with space between tables, interesting artwork and comfortable nooks. It is a venue that you can explore, with key features as the charcuterie featuring as works of art. You can also choose to be seated at the bar, giving you front rows seats to the spectacular cooking experience.

Headed up by Australian Chef, Paul Lewis, Salazón prides itself by making literally everything it serves, on-site; this includes not only their incredible dry-aged meats and charcuteries but their staples such as bread, butter, sauces, vinegars, pastries and more. All produce except for the beef is locally sourced, seasonal and market fresh. Pork is sourced from an organic pork producer in the region Bedugul and seafood changes on the daily.

Menu favorites at Salazón

As previously mentioned, the menu is based around their wood-fired oven, but without a pizza in sight, our top picks are their 45-day Tomahawk (share it…or don’t) which is juicy, tender and satisfying, a chorizo sandwich, filled with 30-day dry-aged chorizo and housemade tomato sauce and fennel relish on brioche (read: unforgettable and drool-worthy), and if you really want to treat yourself order the suckling pig ahead of time and blow your guests minds. If meat isn’t your thing 250g of the freshest, roasted tiger prawns, delicious baked burrata cheese, morish grilled oysters and Singaporean inspired soft shell crab, await your palate.

Cocktails from the trolley bar

Even the cocktails follow the wood-fired theme. There are two drinks you can order from their neat little trolley bar, Twenty-One Barrel Aged, and The Negroni. The trolley will come to your table and you can see how it is made, which just adds to the experience. There is also a thoughtful and extensive wine list available for those that prefer to match their wines to their meals.

And to finish, you simply must end your night with the 24-hour lemon, it freshens the palate and leaves you feeling lighter than you are!

Salazón Bali review: conclusion

If you consider yourself to be foodie, this is a place you definitely have to try! At Salazón you don’t only get an outstanding meal, you get a full evening experience. The woodfire grill and the trolley bar give a great dimension to your dining experience. We can’t find any constructive feedback in terms of the food that is served or the staff that served us. Our final conclusion is: you want to try this!
