The Ultimate Festive Season “Over Indulgence” Recovery Tonic
Over the holidays, we all love to indulge in the things we love most.
But even the most seasoned of eaters suffer from over indulgence at this time of year. Here we offer up our special updated recipe to help soothe the ache of gluttony with our “Over Indulgence” Recovery Tonic.
Just like the festive season, our tours allow for guests to indulge in up to 12 full-size meals in one evening. It’s our experience in this area that inspired us to create the ultimate “Over Indulgence” Recovery Tonic.
Over Indulgence Recovery Tonic Recipe
1 Tbsp cardamom pods
1 Tbsp fennel seeds
1 Tbsp whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
4 whole star anise
2cm piece fresh ginger, sliced
2 cups water
3 tsp black tea and 2 cups nut milk
1. In a medium pot over medium heat, head the cardamom, fennel, cloves, cinnamon, and star anise for about 4 minutes. Stir to ensure you do not burn the spices. Add the ginger and water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Turn off the heat, but leave the spices to steep in the covered pot for a few hours.
2. Just before serving, bring the spices to a boil over high heat. Remove from the heat and add the tea leaves. Let steep for 8 to 10 minutes, then strain, ridding of the solids. Return the tea to the pot over low heat and stir in the milk. After 5 to 10 minutes, it will be ready to serve.
The tonic will help your digestion system to “rest” and make sure you’re ready for the next feast!
PS: This is an over-eater tonic, not a hangover cure!
PPS: It’s perfect for after ALL our tours!
